Pacifica is a warm E-class moon in the HIP 43797 system.

Pacifica is the fourth moon orbiting Lani, a large blue gas giant in the HIP 43797 system within the Vela constellation. It is much smaller than Earth and its gravity is weaker, allowing for many of the inhabitants to live in small floating cities and airships etc.

Weather on Pacifica is fairly calm however hurricanes, strong winds and even tsunamis can be a problem in some of the more tropical regions. Plus, due to the lower gravity, tsunamis can reach much higher than those on Earth.

History and discovery

Prior to terraforming, Pacifica was quite harsh for normal human habitation, for example its atmosphere was poisonous and it had a chaotic axial tilt of 124 degrees, giving it all sorts of disastrous weather.

It was discovered in 2456 by an exploration team, searching for earth-like worlds to colonise. In spite of its harsh conditions, they saw it as a potential paradise world if It were to be terraformed although a lot had to be done in order to make it suitable for human habitation such as stabilising its axial tilt and introducing oxygen to its atmosphere while removing most of the other gases. Terraforming was completed in 3281.

After that, life from Earth, mainly aquatic, tropical and exotic animal species were introduced to Pacifica and thrive there to this day. Palm trees are the most common type of tree on Pacifica, being found on nearly every islands as well the main continents.

The inhabitants of Pacifica, (or Pacificans as they like to call themselves) live a rural and idyllic lifestyle, living in small communities on the islands as well as luxurious villas by the beaches. Others live in small floating cities, supported by massive balloons, gently drifting across the skies and seas. These cities can change direction, so if any cyclone is detected heading towards them, they can move to avoid the storm. Some Pacificans even live in their own personal airships, traversing the skies for a living.

The main methods of travel are either boats, submarines and airships.

Pacifica's capital, Rockwell city on the Atlantica continent is the largest and only city on the surface as all the other ground settlements are small towns.

While still part of the confederacy, Pacificans have formed their own government known as the Nations of Pacifica which is an organisation consisting of all the nations that have formed there. Even tribal communities have also formed on the smaller islands as some wanted to leave the technologically advancing Earth behind to live a more simpler life. Most of these tribes are not part of the Nations of Pacifica as they wish to be left alone to live simply.

Every year, Pacificans have an annual boat race in which boats are raced across Pacifica, known as the Great Sea Race. The huge waves also make surfing a very popular sport, especially off the coast of Paradaiso and Atlantica.

Pacifica map

A map of Pacifica. Note: The unnamed continent in the middle is unused as it is of no value.

Pacifica has a population of 3.7 billion. Pacifican Humans are taller than average humans due to the weaker gravity. Because of weaker gravity, some Aerians from Mars also migrated there because of it and like to fly across Pacifica, visiting different islands.

Pacifica has two main continents while the rest is just small islands. Several darker patches can be seen from space which are massive craters that are theorised to have been caused by ancient impacts. Volcano islands dot the oceans and all of them are geologically active due to the moon's relatively young age.

The largest continent and location of the capital, Rockwell city. Towns can be found all over Atlantica, strewn between the scenic forests and mountains. Hiking and hand gliding are a popular sport here. Many people also enjoy sightseeing the expansive forests and glorious mountain ranges. It was named after the ancient Earth continent.

New Australia

This continent has been left to house numerous endangered species from Australia on Earth. The Nations of Pacifica forbid people to set foot on this continent so the wildlife can be left undisturbed. Most of New Australia is a dense, tropical forest, inhabited by a wide variety of animals which have since changed and diversified over the last few thousand years. Other biomes such as mountain ranges and deserts can also be found on New Australia. The continent is notable for its giant huntsman spiders which have grown to be much bigger than their ancestors on Earth, thanks to the lower gravity.

The Hawaiian word for 'paradise', this island was settled by various people from Hawaii who (similar to the tribes) wanted to live a more natural life and leave Earth behind. Paradaiso is very much like Hawaii, having small beach towns across it as well as its own reef with aquatic life from Earth's oceans.

Challenger Sea

Numerous tribes inhabit the two islands on the left. Atlantica can also be seen on the top left.

The deepest part of Pacifica's oceans. The Challenger sea appears as a ginormous dark patch when viewed from space and is believed to have been caused by a catastrophic impact. It is theorised that it was once a continent as there are two islands on the edge of it. There is even a volcano inside it which gives more evidence to there once being a bigger landmass.

The Pouli Sea is the darker patch seen on the left.

Hawaiian for "small island", this island is jokingly called "Sperm Island" because of its shape. It is located next to the Pouli Sea and is infamous for it Sand Hotel, a hotel made entirely out of hardened sand.
