The Silver League is an aristocratic alliance in the Silver Halo Galaxy. It spans over 10 million light years, controlling over a hundred galaxies in its territory. Some colonies appear outside of the main territory, but these have more autonomy as their isolation proves difficult to maintain their economies.

It was founded in 41,055 CE by the last surviving Paxites, the Di'Vaornians and Nar'Gorrians. Over the millennia, it welcomed new civilisations as members of the alliance, building its economy to new, unprecedented levels. From outside observers, the alliance was described as pacifist and xenophobic to non-League members. They had no interest in purging other species, but rather enforced strict immigration policies.

Originally, it was founded as a deterrent to prevent a galactic war or an uprising. As the years went by, these fears vanished and the future of the alliance became more optimistic. The last few Paxites that led the small, wealthy class had huge influence on politics, influencing elections and spreading false information. A whistleblower in the 49000's revealed their true intentions, and the people violently rebelled against the government. Lasting five years, the events impacted politics and history for generations.

Contact with the Intergalactic Confederacy, and their allies, was a particularly tedious process. The League was initially very hesitant to begin negotiations for a military pact. As the months went by, they became more impatient and cancelled the talks, ending any possible alliance with them. The largest political parties, the Social Conservative Party and Progressive Party, shared one common view: the Intergalactic Confederacy was nothing but inept and incompetent.

Political Structure

Upon the League's creation in 41,055 CE, the Constitution was written and ratified. The first President was temporary, lasting for less than a year, before an electon was held in 41,056 CE that brought the Social Conservative Party into government for the first time. From this point onwards, an election across all of its colonies was scheduled every five years, but an earlier one could be agreed if the majority of the Senate voted for it.

The President is the most powerful position in the government. Most of the President's powers are influenced by no-one else, but ordering military action or declaring war, requires a vote in the Senate. Just like the Senators, the President can introduce any bills or legislation to the Senate, where a vote takes place.
